The dramatic elevation changes, thought-provoking shot values, undulating fairways, ragged bunkers, and subtle greens create a series of 18 uniquely memorable golf holes—each punctuated by Muskoka’s signature natural rock outcroppings. When it comes to dramatic opening holes, No. 1 at Muskoka Bay is quite possibly the most visually stunning first tee shot that Canadian architect Doug Carrick has designed as it drops some 100 feet to the fairway below from the back tee. The tee decks on this mid-length par 4 are thoughtfully sculpted from the adjacent rock formations. The hole gently moves uphill from left to right to a green site protected by bunkers. From here, one of the most memorable journeys in Canadian golf only gets better. “This is a course that builds with suspense and excitement from start to finish, a special place where golfers feel like they’re in the wilderness on every hole,” says Carrick.
