Love Jack Nicklaus golf courses? Got a thing for Greg Norman’s layouts, too?
Well, there’s a resort development on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula where you can get your J&G fix at pretty much the same time. Or at least during the same 18-hole round.
Puerto los Cabos is Southern Baja’s newest and most comprehensive resort development and is ideally situated on the sparkling shores of the Sea of Cortez. In addition to offering over three miles of private beachfront and full-length Nicklaus and Norman signature courses — nine holes each of which are now open for play —, the development features Mexico’s largest private marina and an assortment of amenities for owners including an activities center, beach club, walking trails, gardens and concierge services.
And, by 2014, golf travelers can team a round at Puerto los Cabos with a stay at the country’s first Ritz-Carlton Reserve resort. Nestled along 800 feet of oceanfront, 124 private, single-story, oceanfront villas will each have breathtaking panoramic views across the Sea of Cortez in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Historic Los Cabos dates to the 16th century and the Spanish Conquistadors, but today is known as one of the most desirable vacation getaways in North America. “We have looked at many sites in Mexico over the years, and believe the location at Los Cabos will offer our sophisticated travelers an exciting new place to explore and enjoy. It is an added pleasure to be working with our solid developers, Grupo Questro and Trinity Investments,” said Herve Humler, president, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, during a ceremony earlier this year.
With spectacular ocean views from every hole and dramatic elevation changes the current, unprecedented Nicklaus-Norman composite course challenges and thrills. Guests will experience the difference in design philosophies and enjoy a sneak peek of what each of the final 18-hole courses will look like. Each nine offers its own unique style, but the results are similar: absolute bliss.
Other recreational riches abound. The development is ideally located only a short distance away from the legendary fishing grounds of Gordo Banks, which gives anglers a one-hour advantage over the boats out of Cabo San Lucas. Overall Puerto Los Cabos boasts over three miles of pristine beachfront, offering residents and guests a variety of recreation choices, such as snorkeling, swimming, parasailing and surfing. For those looking only for blissful relaxation, private beach clubs with infinity pools, restaurants, fire pits and lounging areas offer a world-class experience.
Just minutes form the historic district of San Jose del Cabo, Puerto Los Cabos is only 10 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), and only 40 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas.
