For our annual Golf & Gaming Issue, we thought we’d do a little cross-training. That’s why we asked a Swedish superstar who knows the ins and outs of another wager-friendly game — billiards — to help us out, and show Fairways + Greens a few trick shots along the way.
It doesn’t hurt that Hall of Famer and World 9-Ball Champion Ewa Mataya Laurance, one of the women responsible for reinventing billiards from a smoky backroom boys club into an ESPN mainstay, looks great in the latest fashions from adidas, Wear to Win, Quagmire and Tip Tee Toe.

But Ewa has long been more than just a pretty face, although she admits that looking good is important to any pursuit, especially when winning matters. “When you’re competing, you want to feel confident in all areas. If you’re not comfortable with the way you look, it’s a distraction — especially when the TV cameras are on.”
Check out Las Vegas-based photographer Isaac Brekken’s fun, sizzling shots and dream about where you’d like to sport the latest in colorful apparel, maybe even a pair of red shoes?
Like any true golfer, Ewa has her wish list:
“My husband and I have been fortunate enough to travel to several amazing places in the world to play golf,” she says. “Although Ireland and Scotland are my favorite places for golf, I have always wanted to go to South Africa on a golf safari.”
We like her wild side already.
